Harnessing behavioral science

products and experiences
Where behavioral science
& neuroaesthetics
elevate lives
welcome to notemakker
Blending behavioral science and neuroaesthetics, we elevate your products, services, and programs. We do this across three areas: health and mental health, education, and technology/innovation.

Every path to impact flows through one critical channel: the experience of those you aim to serve. Be it a product, service, intervention, or campaign, its success lies in the experiences we craft for those we want to reach.

It starts with empathy. Over the years, we have learned from organizations about the complexities of making meaningful change. They've seen innovative programs fail to address real needs. They've grappled with services designed to delight but left people disengaged. They’ve shared their frustrations with products that didn’t quite connect. They've struggled with technology that promised transformation but delivered frustration. They've wondered how to create experiences with lasting relevance. Indeed, among the countless products, services, and interventions launched each year, only those that offer exceptional experiences and address real problems truly succeed.

We launched Notemakker to help you design and evaluate experiences that truly matter—experiences that connect, inspire, and resonate. We believe behavioral science illuminates, aesthetic experience inspires, and together, they transform
.

Services
We partner with organizations and individuals invested in making the change that matters. Notemakker serves those who dare to think differently and believe in the power of exceptional experiences.

We blend behavioral science and neuroaesthetics to craft impactful experiences that move people to action. And we capture the metrics that matter.

At Notemakker, science & neuroaesthetics meet strategy and implementation at every step. Notemakker focuses on five different services across health and mental health, education, and technology/innovation: (1) research & impact, (2) neuroaesthetics, (3) user experience, (4) multisensory experiences, and (5) one-on-one consulting.

our name
Notemakker resides at the intersection of science, creativity, and innovation, reimagining our everyday experiences to be better for you, your organization, and our planet.

We start every project with a "note," connecting the dots. Along the way, we "note" emerging patterns and unexpected trends. Finally, we craft insights ("notes") and actionable multisensory solutions. And guess what? Most senses have their very own "note."

We embody the dual essence of our name. We are "makers"—actively crafting actionable insights, experiences, and solutions tailored to your unique challenges. But we're more than just makers; we are your "makker" – your partner on this journey.

Maria Ponboframe
Maria Pombo, BA, PhD researcher
Empirical aesthetics expert
Read more
Maria specializes in Cognition and Perception, and she is currently completing her PhD at New York University. She is an expert in empirical aesthetics, in both academic and applied contexts. Her work investigates how people perceive beauty and make aesthetic judgments of everyday experiences.

Maria's doctoral work focuses on quantifying and modeling individual differences in aesthetic preferences. It explores different types of aesthetic variance (intrinsic, within participants, and across participants), effective ways to measure and model them, and the theoretical and practical implications of variance heterogeneity.

With her applied work, she has leveraged psychological tools to understand how aesthetic value guides consumer behavior. In collaboration with the Centre for Multisensory Marketing at BI Norwegian Business School, she explored how aesthetic features in product packaging convey different brand meanings and elicit motivational behavior.  At Meta, she assessed the aesthetics of wearable devices. In current collaborations with Meta and The Readability Consortium, she is working to understand how different facets of the subjective experience of reading, such as a font’s beauty or the pleasure of a passage, relate to reading performance.

Maria brings technical expertise and a creative approach to problem-solving. She is passionate about using insights from neuroaesthetics and human behavior to inspire innovation, create meaningful experiences, and enhance the user experience.
